Deep Fried Christmas Puddings Go On Sale Just In Time For Christmas

Put down the mulled wine and stop munching on the mince pies, because we have reached peak Christmas - and it’s arrived in the form of a deep fried Christmas pudding.

Is it amazing, or is it a crime against Christmas? We’re not entirely sure, but it’s been created by Audrey’s Fish and Chip Shop in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.

Chip-frier Tina Mitchell, who created the festive treat, along with battered parsnips, said: ‘The parsnips look really quite nice. It’s just a little something we’ve done for Christmas.

‘It’s quite an easy job to make them, it’s not a lengthy process and they don’t take too long at all.

‘I’ve tasted the parsnips and they’re really good, but I don’t like Christmas pudding, unfortunately, so I’ve not tried that.’

Both delicacies are said to have been a massive hit with customers since going on sale on Monday.

It’s not the first time that the chippy has delved into unusual delicacies - with food colouring added to haddocks during the Tour De Yorkshire, along with a dash of pink when the town hosted a Cancer Research Race For Life earlier this year.

Tina added: ‘We sold quite a lot of the blue and pink fish - we were really surprised at how much the public supported it.

‘When we did blue fish and chips, one of the first orders we had was for about six blue fish and chips from a group of businessmen I think, so they were popular.’

Merry Christmas, one and all!
